Legacy Outlook for Mac - Issue Resolved

Microsoft has announced that Legacy Outlook for Mac users may be unable to connect to their Exchange Online mailboxes. In the meantime, users can still access their email using the web client at https://cowboymail.okstate.edu/

How does this affect me?

Impact is specific to those who are on version 15.20 and builds 7409.15 or below. Microsoft is currently deploying a fix but it is taking longer than originally anticipated.

Resolution - Apr 3rd 3:06 pm

Microsoft confirmed that their fix has completed its deployment to the affected environment. Additionally, by verifying with affected users and monitoring the service, they've verified that the problem has been successfully resolved. These services have been restored to full functionality.

Update - Apr 3rd 8:38 am

The fix deployment has reached close to 99 percent of the affected environment. Microsoft is continuing to monitor its progress to ensure it saturates the remaining portion as expected.

The fix deployment has been completed for more than 99 percent of the affected environment. Microsoft is continuing to monitor the progress as the saturation of the remaining portion is taking an extended amount of time to complete.

The fix deployment has been completed for more than 95 percent of the affected environment. Microsoft expects the saturation of the remaining portion will take an extended amount of time to complete, and they're continuing to monitor the progress.

Microsoft is overseeing the deployment and is monitoring for any changes in speed and success to ensure that it will reach the remaining affected users to alleviate impact fully.

Our fix deployment has reached nearly 95 percent of the affected environment and we're continuing to monitor the process to ensure the progress continues. While there isn't an estimated completion time available yet, we expect that the remaining saturation may take an extended period of time.

Operators have received initial positive reports from affected users and are conducting a period of extended service monitoring so additional testing with affected users can be conducted to ensure that impact has been fully remediated.

Microsoft announced they are finishing the final internal validations before the additional fix begins deployment and anticipate deployment to begin by our next scheduled update.

Microsoft received updated information that any version of the Legacy Outlook for Mac client may be impacted. The deployment of the fix to address the identified code issue has completed, but additional issues introduced with the recent service maintenance have been identified, causing impact to persist. Microsoft is in the process of internally validating an additional fix to fully resolve impact and will provide a timeline for this fix to deploy to all affected environments when available.
